Your new job includes
The Category Manager is accountable for category performance against financial and KPI targets. Their primary responsibility is maximizing engagement of the customer and customer satisfaction, be it through in-stock, promotion or range. The Category Manager will collaborate and manage the mutual interests of both the Operations and Purchasing team in line with the broader commercial strategy. They are the ambassador of the category and carry the authority of how the range is represented and executed on the shop floor. The Category Manager will overlook and lead the category team to maximize profitability throughout all products within the scope of the category.
You will be responsible for (but not limited to):
* Establishes themselves as the authority in the Category
* Develops and drives initiatives to ensure a high level of customer service by regularly reviewing customer feedback, trends, and results
* Achieve the yearly sales target for your category and subcategories by store
* Builds and maintains a profound relationship with vendors
* Ensures maintenance of stock and merchandise presentation in accordance with company standards
* Evaluates demand, forecasting, campaign and product range analyses and derivation of measures
* Accurately and timely executes and develops monthly/sporadic promotions in collaboration with the promotions team
* Provides feedback and reporting on current and future category, stock and customer demands and trends
What you should bring along:
* Previous experience including category management, strategic planning, forecasting and financial analysis
* Previous experience in managing high volume business and dynamic sales teams
* Previous experience in managing and collaborating with multiple stakeholders
* Understanding of contemporary sales techniques and strategies
* Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to prioritise and work in a fast-paced environment
* Extensive product knowledge, analytical skills and ability to identify market trends
* Superior communication skills and problem-solving ability
* Previous experience working in a complex sales environment, (e.g. Travel Retail)
* Financial analysis skills and ability to develop, read and interpret financial reports
* An interest and / or experience in the related categories (Perfume & Cosmetics / Liquor, Tobacco and Confectionery).
* Bachelor's degree in business, Commerce, Marketing or a related discipline (or equivalent relevant work experience)
