We currently have the need for a highly talented and experienced team player to join our supportive team as WHS Advisor. This is a permanent position employed from our head office in Sydney, with the role initially based in the Riverina region of NSW for approximately the first 12 months.

For this role to be effective, we are looking for an individual with strong skillsets and experience in the bridges and rail sector. The right candidate will also have a sound understanding of relevant WHS & rail legislation, and ONRSR rolling stock accreditation requirements.

Requirements

This WHS Advisor Role will be instrumental in monitoring and supporting the implementation of the Project Integrated Management System (IMS) across the Inland Rail Project – Wagga Wagga and Junee sections.

The role is essential for our projects to provide specialist WHS advice and positively influence WHS behaviours on our active rail and civil construction sites. This is a hands‐on, site‐based role requiring confidence operating under Principal Contractor governance frameworks and managing complex interface risks across multiple work fronts.

You will actively contribute to contractor assurance, inspections, WHS reporting, investigations, and all continuous improvement initiatives, while supporting the Principal Contractor.

Strong stakeholder engagement skills are essential, particularly in liaising with Inland Rail & ARTC representatives, client assurance teams, and internal leadership to drive consistent and practical WHS outcomes across the project.

In return, this role offers the support, trust, and autonomy required to influence a strong WHS culture on one of Australia's most significant rail infrastructure projects.

To be considered you will have:

* Tertiary qualifications in Workplace Health and Safety (or equivalent)
* Rail Industry Worker Competent including experience working in accordance with Rail Safety Accreditation and Rail Safety Interface Agreements
* Experience with incident investigation (ICAM and/orquivalent)
* High level of skill and expertise working and coordinating WHS requirements in the rail environment
* Extensive in-field experience working in similar civil construction industries
* Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to develop effective relationships with managers, executives and staff to achieve business outcomes
* Current drivers license
* Construction Induction Training (White card or equivalenet)
* Subcontractor management experience
* Experience in maintaining WHS Management Systems in accordance with ISO45001, OFSC and ONRSR
* Competent computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
* Ability to problem solve and assist with making practical decisions
* Ability to consult and influence throughout all levels of the organisation
* Willingness to work occasional weekends and be on call, and
* Experience influencing WHS behaviours throughout all levels of the organisation

Desirable

* Lead Auditor Qualified (WHS Management Systems)
* Qualifications/Experience in Risk Management Processes or similar
* Experience developing Accredited Rail Safety Management Plans and Rail Safety Interface Agreements
* Previous authorised Drug and Alcohol testing person under ONRSR Accreditation and/or,
* Certificate IV Training and Assessment
