Overview

This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 2, 2026. This advertisement is part of a recruitment pilot designed to simplify the application process for teachers. A CV template is provided for use and only the CV template is to be submitted.

The School

Governor Stirling SHS, situated on the banks of the Swan River in Woodbridge, caters for students of varying abilities and offers the Department of Education Gifted and Talented Academic Program, a range of academic and Vocational Education and Training programs and Approved Specialist Programs in Engineering, Arts Media and AFL Football. The Role

The successful applicant will ideally be student- and relationship-focused, highly motivated, innovative and able to work effectively in a team environment. Adopting inclusive and restorative practices, and building positive relationships with students, staff and the community, are important components of the role. The ability to establish and maintain effective communication with parents and caregivers is highly regarded. The role requires promoting a positive classroom environment and encouraging students to progress to their potential by embedding values of Respect, Tolerance, Honesty, Excellence, and Responsibility in classroom practice. Desired qualifications and experience include knowledge and understanding of the latest Years 7–10 Western Australian English Curriculum, with recent experience teaching Year 11 and 12 General and/or ATAR English advantageous. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work across year groups as needed, and should possess professional knowledge and experience to deliver engaging, differentiated secondary English content and develop resources meeting students' educational needs. A collegiate and collaborative approach and enthusiasm for contributing to a positive culture in the department and wider school community are valued. * hold an eligible teacher qualification and registration
* be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with work rights for the term of the appointment
* apply for a WA Working with Children Check before you start
* consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start
