An exciting opportunity has become available for a Senior Regulatory Economist .

This role will see you take the lead on key parts of revenue resets and other regulatory projects and position the company for favourable long-term regulatory outcomes. You will also assist with the preparation of internal and external submissions, with a particular focus on assisting with the development of five-yearly price review regulatory submiss ions.

With a hybrid split (Office/WFH)), this role is based in Southbank, Melbourne and is part of Strategy & Regulation team within our Transmission line of bus iness.

This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:

* Lead key parts of the network revenue resets, including conduct investigation, analysis and modelling and communicating with the business to obtain or supply required information in a timely manner
* Assist in the management of day-to-day regulatory issues for the Regulated Networks
* Understanding and applying national electricity and gas Laws and Rules
* Participate in the development of company positions for the evolution of best practice economic regulation
* Maintain detailed understanding of regulatory constraints on broad commercial and business arrangements arising through regulatory change and assist in the development of policy for business conduct consistent with such obligations
* Participate in reviews and forums established by industry bodies, to present the company’s views and engage in debate to influence stakeholders
* Develop professional relationships with regulatory bodies, industry participants and other stakeholders to enhance the company’s reputation as a highly credible and leading contributor in regulatory and industry development processes, providing an opportunity to influence their thinking and decisions

You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combina ti on of:

* Demonstrated professional experience within a similar like role
* Demonstrated knowledge of the economic, corporate finance, legal, and commercial principles that underpin utility markets and their regulation
* Awareness of current status and emerging trends of electricity and other utilities, including a working knowledge of relevant state and national policies and energy industry regulatory structure
* Sound skills in financial analysis, cost-benefit analysis, problem-solving, planning and organisation, and business acumen
* Sound interpersonal and communications skills, written and verbal, capable of influencing staff, peers and external stakeholders—including experience in preparing and presenting to management and formal sub missions
