About the role Provide safe, reliable, and engaging childcare in private homes or childcare settings for infants, toddlers and school-aged children.
Key responsibilities
* Supervise children at all times and ensure their safety.
* Prepare meals, bottles and snacks and assist with feeding.
* Change nappies and handle toileting/hygiene routines.
* Plan and run age-appropriate activities, play, reading and educational games.
* Assist with school drop-offs/pick-ups and after-school routines if required.
* Put children to sleep and manage nap schedules.
* Administer basic first aid and medications per parent instructions.
* Maintain a clean, child-safe environment; tidy toys and children's areas.
* Communicate with parents about routines, incidents and children's development.
* Follow parents' instructions and household rules, including screen-time and dietary restrictions.
Skills & experience
* Prior childcare, babysitting or teaching experience preferred.
* Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate activities.
* Reliable, patient, and calm under pressure with good communication skills.
* Ability to handle multiple children and manage behaviour positively.
* Basic household skills (meal prep, tidying) and comfortable with pets if required.
Qualifications & compliance
* Current Working with Children Check (WWCC) or equivalent as required by state/territory.
* First Aid and CPR certificate (including anaphylaxis and asthma management) preferred or required.
* Right to work in Australia.
* Police check if requested by families or agencies.
Working hours & conditions
* Flexible hours including evenings, weekends and overnight stays depending on family needs.
* Casual or short-term bookings common; ongoing regular bookings possible.
* Travel to family homes may be required.
