How You Contribute
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Accountant with a strong focus on Accounts Receivable (AR), invoicing, and contract compliance to join our dynamic finance team. You will be pivotal in ensuring accurate billing, timely collections, and adherence to revenue recognition standards - especially as we scale our hardware and recurring software (SaaS) offerings.
This role requires a solid understanding of AASB 15, hands-on experience with recurring revenue and AR processes, and a continuous improvement mindset to optimize systems and workflows.
Here’s What You’ll Do
* Key Responsibilities:
Revenue Recognition & Month-End Close
* Manage progressive revenue recognition in line with performance obligations.
* Maintain and reconcile accrued and deferred revenue schedules.
* Lead the revenue component of the month-end close process.
* Ensure compliance with AASB 15 across SaaS, perpetual software, and hardware business models.
* Reconcile the AR sub-ledger to the general ledger; prepare AR aging reports.
* Prepayments: Maintenance and reconciliation.
* Intercompany Accounts: Maintenance and reconciliation.
* Consolidation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
* Support close activities including COGS analysis, revenue-expense matching, and inventory reconciliation and other month-end tasks as assigned by the FC or CFO.
Accounts Receivable & Invoicing
* Manage the billing process including accurate invoices for hardware, subscriptions, and service contracts.
* Manage the full billing cycle: one-time charges, recurring billing, and adjustments.
* Contract Management & Compliance
* Manage the structured repository of customer contracts.
* Ensure alignment of billing with agreed terms, including renewals, milestones, and discounts.
* Coordinate with Legal and Sales to manage the billing impacts of contract modifications.
Reporting & Cross-Functional Collaboration
* Develop dashboards and financial reports for finance leadership, sales, and executive teams.
* Lead commercial action meetings with global sales teams (Brisbane, UK, North & South America).
* Assist with internal and external audits and ad-hoc financial analysis.
Process Optimization
* Drive automation and continuous improvement in AR and invoicing workflows.
* Participate in cross-functional projects focused on billing, revenue systems, and ERP improvements.
How You’ll Succeed
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
* CA or CPA qualified (or working toward certification) preferred.
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounting, ideally in hardware, SaaS, subscription-based businesses, or within a public accounting firm.
* Proficient in ERP platforms such as NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, or QuickBooks.
* Advanced Excel skills with the ability to work comfortably with large datasets.
* Experience with OLAP cube reporting or contract lifecycle management (CLM) tools is a plus.
* Strong attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
* Clear and professional communication skills across internal and external stakeholders.
* Analytical mindset with a focus on data accuracy, integrity, and process efficiency.
Desirable Qualifications
* Experience with multi-element revenue arrangements (e.g., hardware + software).
* In-depth knowledge of AASB 15 and AASB 16 accounting standards.
* Familiarity with recurring billing structures and revenue analytics.
