Typical Duties
• Select appropriate gauge and type of sheet metal based on product requirements.
• Coordinate activities across assigned processes to meet quality, cost, and delivery targets.
• Interpret specifications and job orders; apply company policies and enforce safety regulations.
• Schedule and adjust work using knowledge of equipment capacity to meet job costings and customer deadlines.
• Estimate material costs and labour times; liaise with customers to advise outcomes and resolve issues.
• Hold (or obtain before probation completion) a High‑Risk Forklift Licence.
• White Card & High Risk Work Card is REQUIRED for this job (can be completed online).
Requirements
• Work within precise limits and standards of accuracy; adapt to varied duties as required.
• Plan, lay out, fabricate, and assemble metal parts/products using appropriate layout techniques.
• Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and CNC & mechanical machinery/equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and product specifications to determine fabrication, assembly, and installation methods.
• Select gauges and materials (e.g., galvanized iron, copper, black steel, aluminum, stainless steel) suitable for the task.
• Lay out and mark dimensions/reference lines using scribers, dividers, squares, and rulers; apply shop mathematics and layout techniques to develop and trace patterns/templates.
• Set up and operate fabricating machines such as CNC Laser (training offered to selected candidates), plasma, folders, shears, brake presses, punch presses, roll forming, and pipe bending equipment (CNC training provided for the right person).
• Perform cutting and bending; use hand/portable power tools to trim, file, grind, and buff.
• Spot weld, solder, bolt, rivet, and screw components to assemble products; MIG & TIG welding; metal finishing and polishing.
• Highly preferred: hands‑on custom manufacturing experience with minimal supervision.
• Minimum 1-2 years of professional welding experience required.
• Minimum 1-2 years of sheet metal fabrication experience required.
Physical Demands
• Stand or walk for the duration of a regular workday; use arms/hands to reach for handles/switches and manipulate objects.
• Safely lift and shift materials weighing 25–60 kg (with assistance); carry tools and equipment to perform designated tasks.
