No, we’re not recruiting for circus! (Although sometimes it feels like one…joking ;) Instead we are looking for a finance professional to step into our close-knit circle and take the reigns.

At the core of the role is bookkeeping and payroll. This is where your background will lie, with advanced financial skills and experience a bonus.

Alongside the number crunching, you’ll lead our HR function including staff onboarding, Worksafe coordination and apprentice requirements. Most of these people-focused tasks have a natural overlap with payroll and finance, and you’ll be trained and supported by the owner in this space.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Based out of our up-to-date Torquay office (behind Bunnings), this part time role is about 20-30 hours per week. We are flexible with the spread of hours and can work to a preferred schedule for the right candidate.

Under the King’s Gardens & Pools umbrella is three separate entities:

Finance tasks (for three separate entities):

- Weekly payroll via Xero for approx. 20 employees
- Weekly superannuation
- Bank reconciliations
- Managing and processing accounts payable and receivable
- Cashflow management
- Invoicing to clients for landscaping/pools projects and job tracking
- Liaise with our accountant (they lodge the BAS)
- TPAR reporting
- Manage fleet of 10-15 vehicles and plant, including coordination of Vicroads renewals, RACV, Linkt etc.

HR tasks (mainly for two entities):

- Employee onboarding and offboarding – Issuing contracts and documentation, uniform, setting up in payroll, XeroMe etc.
- Managing apprentice register, including dates and training requirements;
- Worksafe claims and injury near misses (minimal);
- Managing staff leave calendar;
- General employee relations;
- Supporting the owner with recruitment, staff communication and wellbeing.

REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS

Responsibilities include Finance and HR tasks as described above; experience in bookkeeping and payroll is essential, with HR coordination experience considered a bonus. The role is part-time (20-30 hours per week) and requires a versatile, team-oriented approach and alignment with our culture.
