Correctional Officer Role
This role involves working in a supportive team environment where no two shifts are the same. As a correctional officer, you will contribute to community safety and assist offenders in finding paths for improvement in their lives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Carry out daily tasks and duties following legislation, policies and procedures to ensure the safety, well-being, security, and rehabilitation of inmates.
* Perform daily accountability routines including muster, head checks, ongoing observation of offenders.
* Conduct searches and other detection activities to find and remove contraband from the facility or court complex, and to monitor offenders, boosting security and safety for everyone.
* Manage inmates' requests for services or escalate them if needed.
* Supervise offender activities in designated zones, making sure everything runs in accordance with principles of fairness, equity and efficient safe practice.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
* A minimum age of 18 years old.
* A current valid driver's license.
* Australia or New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency.
* Willingness to complete Certificate III in Correctional Practice.
* Meet medical standards to be a correctional officer and have a reasonable level of fitness.
* No visible body art or modifications on face, scalp, ears, neck, or hands.
