Responsibilities

* Be at the heart of Council's environmental work, contributing to delivery of conservation projects including the Tweed Coast Koala Plan of Management habitat restoration program, to make a real difference across the Shire.

* Deliver positive client experiences by supporting service delivery across multiple functions within the Unit.

We Are Seeking

* An environmental professional with tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or a related discipline.
* Proven experience delivering land management and natural resource projects, including site assessments, surveys, restoration planning, and performance monitoring.
* Strong knowledge of local flora and fauna, including threatened species, endangered ecological communities, and key threatening processes.
* Practical experience applying biodiversity conservation, sustainable agriculture, and/or threatened species management principles in real‐world programs.
* An excellent communicator with strong written and verbal skills, capable of engaging landholders, negotiating outcomes, and resolving conflict to drive sustainable land management.
* A proactive and tech‐savvy professional with experience securing and managing grants, supervising consultants and contractors, and using tools such as GIS, data management systems, and common office applications.

Where It's Located

This position is based in Murwillumbah and can be directed to work from any Council work site.

* Describe your written and verbal communication skills, including your experience engaging landholders or other stakeholders. Please include examples that demonstrates your negotiation or conflict resolution skills.
* Outline your knowledge of relevant local environmental legislation, planning instruments, and government policies and your experience with applying them.
