About the role:
Positions are available across Western Mental Health and Wellbeing Unit 2, Unit 3, and the Western Mental Health and Wellbeing Centre.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate Consumer Peer Support Worker to join our inpatient team at Sunshine's Mental Health and Wellbeing Centre. Our unique perspective compliments the professional knowledge, skills and service delivery of the multidisciplinary teams we work closely within.
This role requires lived/living experience as a consumer of mental health services and a good understanding of the recovery process. We are seeking people who are willing to walk alongside consumers in their recovery journeys, sharing your own experiences in a way that inspires hope and possibility.
Key responsibilities:
* A personal lived/living experience of mental health challenges and accessing mental health services with a willingness to share this lived experience in a peer support capacity
* Ability to mutually support consumers in their own recovery; sharing your lived experience to support them to take positive steps towards their own wellbeing.
* Build an understanding of the effectiveness of the role of lived experience workforces within clinical mental health services.
* Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to consult, liaise and work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
