The Opportunity: Learning Resource Coordinator, empowering people and making real impact

As our Learning Resource Centre Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the development and engagement of our learning environment to foster a positive experience for all, adding to the delivery of GEO's Continuum of Care philosophy.
Your Key Impact Areas
* Ensure the Learning Resource Centre operates in a manner that supports leisure, legal, learning and education outcomes for prisoners.
* Administer and manage the centre library and all resources associated with this service in accordance with RCC Operating Instructions, Commissioner Requirements and community standards.
* Maintain a library with:
o Reading material for various interest groups and literacy levels
o Education material that supports current prisoner courses, including Distance Education
o Legal documents, references and legislation that support current legal matters
o Promote library services to the people in our care and staff at Ravenhall
o Maintain appropriate library stock to ensure material remains current and relevant
o Operate and maintain database systems to record, catalogue and account for resources
o Develop and administer schedules to ensure equitable access to available resources, whether electronic or hard copy
o Provide support and guidance to the people in our care using the library
o Ensure legal and other materials directly related to current legal needs for the people in our care are available via approved sources
o Research the internet for legal and educational purposes only
o Meet with Distance Education students under the guidance of the Education Supervisor to provide university resources to support their study, prepare and write reports using a variety of software packages
o Provide basic security through monitoring of prisoner activity and compliance with rules
o Participate in the prisoner orientation for education and employment to promote the services offered by the library
o Assist with borrowing and book returns in the absence of library service workers
o Attend and complete approved training as required
* Work in conjunction with the Education Supervisor as required and assist:
o Compare JETS reports for OHS and SFH to incoming lists
o Prepare and minute education meetings
o Prepare and mark attendance for orientation sessions
o Source resources and equipment as needed for the LRC and Education, prepare purchase documents, working within the appropriate budget.
o Other duties as required
Your Essential Skills for Success
* Qualifications and/or equivalent experience in education or librarian fields, or substantial positive experience in a similar role.
* Good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
* Proven understanding of education and training programs (experience with prisoners/offenders highly regarded).
* Demonstrated experience and skills in developing and implementing technological change.
* Demonstrated well‐developed interpersonal, communication, and conflict‐resolution skills.
* Ability to work within a correctional setting, which will involve direct contact with prisoners.
* Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance is mandatory.
