Role overview:
We are supporting a defence client with delivering and maintaining mission-critical IT systems. This is an opportunity to support and maintain complex command and control systems. You will play a key role in maintaining and integrating distributed messaging environments, and ensuring system reliability through proactive patching, upgrades and defect remediation. These systems are vital to enabling secure communications, real-time situational awareness, and interoperability across defence partners.
Key responsibilities:
* Managing defence messaging infrastructure and resolving complex technical issues
* Supporting systems across Navy ships, including user management, training support, and offsite assistance
* Developing SOPs, technical guides, and training artefacts
* Assisting with incident management, troubleshooting, and vendor engagement to maintain service levels
* Building and deploying specialised hardware, managing certificates, and performing change management
* Participating in on-call support and continuous self-training to remain current with Defence applications
To be successful, you will have extensive experience in:
* Extensive experience as a Systems Administrator within Defence or secure government environments
* Highly developed knowledge of enterprise messaging and collaboration products and protocols, including Microsoft Exchange, Skype for Business, and Lotus Domino, with strong expertise in Active Directory administration
* Familiarity with Nutanix, Fortinet, Cisco, Ivanti/McAfee, and RedHat products.
* Experience troubleshooting across Level 1-3 support, such as root cause analysis, log tracking, and resolution
* High proficiency with change management, including ticketing, logging, documentation and SLA management
* Domain experience working with Navy or Defence systems
