The role
The Role
Reporting directly to our CFO, you'll own the cost accounting function across manufacturing, wholesale, and retail — playing a key role in how we understand, control, and improve performance.
This is a hands‐on role with real breadth — from building standard costs and bill of materials through to margin reporting, forecasting, and supporting S&OP. In short: you won't just report the numbers — you'll help shape them.
What You'll Be Doing
- Build and fine‐tune bill of materials and standard costs across all products and sites.
- Keep costing across labour, production, and materials accurate and dialled in.
- Run systems that are tight, reliable, and always decision‐ready.
- Dive into monthly consumption, recoveries, and variances — and actually make sense of them.
- Turn numbers into clear, actionable insight – not just spreadsheets no one reads.
- Build dashboards and reports that people actually want to open.
Product & Operations Support
- Partner with teams to cost current products before they hit the shelves.
- Work closely with sales and ops on forecasting and S&OP.
- Help us understand exactly where we're making money... and where we're leaking it.
Inventory & Controls
- Own inventory reconciliations, stocktakes, and cycle counts end‐to‐end.
- Keep everything clean, accurate, and under control – no surprises.
Reporting & Planning
- Deliver weekly sales and margin reporting across customers, brands, and channels.
- Support budgeting across cost centres (and keep it grounded in reality).
- Produce monthly reporting including Flash P&L, Business Reviews, and Risks & Opportunities.
About You
- CA or CPA qualified with a degree in Accounting or Commerce.
- 2+ years post‐qualification experience in accounting.
- Solid, hands‐on experience in a food manufacturing environment (this one's a must!).
- Strong ERP skills across BOMs, standard costing, and variance analysis.
- You can hit deadlines without cutting corners.
- Clear communicator who can work with finance, ops, and production (and speak all their languages).
- Comfortable in fast‐moving, sometimes messy environments – you bring clarity where others see chaos.
The Kind of Person Who Thrives Here
- Cash‐focused, commercially sharp, and operationally curious.
- Low ego, high ownership – happy to roll sleeves up.
- Calm, decisive, and pragmatic under pressure.
- Comfortable making decisions with imperfect information.
- Naturally curious about how the business really works.
- Resilient, outcome‐driven, and allergic to unnecessary complexity.
