Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania's largest hospital. The Department of Medical Imaging is a dynamic and essential clinical service that plays a critical role in diagnosing and supporting patient care across the hospital and broader Tasmanian community.
We provide a diverse range of high-quality imaging services including General X-ray, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine/PET, Fluoroscopy, Interventional Radiology and Angiography.
The Role
The Receptionist in Medical Imaging is a key frontline role responsible for ensuring a professional, welcoming and efficient patient experience. The position supports the smooth operation of the department by coordinating patient arrivals, managing bookings and enquiries, and providing consistent, timely communication between clinical teams, patients and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate patient arrivals and manage booking schedules.
Handle enquiries and provide information to patients and stakeholders.
Maintain accurate patient records and administrative processes.
Contribute positively to team culture and support patient flow.
Required Experience and Skills
Previous experience in clerical/reception functions within a hospital environment and knowledge of relevant guidelines for managing patient information.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to liaise effectively with patients, clinicians, health service staff and external stakeholders.
Proficiency with office management software and computer systems (DMR, PC packages, Rados, Terminal Digital Filing) and rapid accurate data entry.
Appointment Details
Multiple permanent full-time and part-time day-worker positions, up to 76 hours per fortnight (hours to be negotiated).
Positions may be used to fill subsequent or similar full-time, part-time and casual vacancies for 12 months from publication.
Salary and Benefits
Salary: $66,049 to $70,993 per annum pro-rata (public-sector union agreement). Superannuation 12% contributed on top.
Salary packaging with benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 and meal entertainment up to $2,650 per FBT year.
