Director Caring Futures Institute and Dean Research:
The incumbent will drive the College's research vision and strategy in collaboration with the College Executive and relevant committees.
A key priority will be driving growth in research income by identifying opportunities, supporting grant applications, and building collaborative partnerships.
Additionally, the incumbent will lead initiatives for continuous improvement in research performance, including monitoring progress and impact.
The Director of the Caring Futures Institute (CFI) will play a pivotal role in shaping the College's research landscape, fostering interdisciplinary collaborations, and enhancing the University's reputation as a leader in research excellence.
To achieve this, the successful candidate will need to possess excellent leadership skills, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of the research environment.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Developing and implementing a comprehensive research strategy
* Building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders, including industry partners, government agencies, and community organizations
* Mentoring and developing early and mid-career researchers
* Investing in senior research leaders to strengthen capability and capacity
While experience in building and managing research institutes, centres, or large research groups is highly desirable, it is not essential. What is crucial is a proven track record of high-quality research outputs, demonstrated success in securing competitive research funding, and sound judgement and initiative.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and experienced researcher who can think strategically, lead effectively, and communicate convincingly.
They will have a PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, a strong track record of research achievement, and the ability to inspire and motivate others to work towards a common goal.
