We are looking for a Senior Farm Hand to join our high-performing team at the Tick Fever Centre. The role involves:
* Assisting with biosecurity practices to maintain the disease-free status of the Specific Pathogen Free herd
* Providing practical skills and knowledge in animal husbandry
* Assisting with the delivery of operational plans for land preparation and pasture improvement
* Contributing ideas and being part of a great team
Biosecurity Queensland plays a vital role in securing the state's agricultural prosperity and protecting the environment and economy. We are dedicated to safeguarding human and animal health by preventing and mitigating plant and animal pests and diseases. Our efforts include maintaining high animal welfare standards and ensuring access to interstate markets, which are critical for Queensland's primary industries.
We monitor and regulate the use of agricultural and veterinary chemicals to ensure safety and compliance. Committed to capability development and preparedness, we work proactively to protect Queensland against biosecurity risks.
Animal Biosecurity and Welfare (ABW) supports these efforts by preventing, preparing for, responding to, and recovering from livestock diseases. Our team mitigates biosecurity risks, upholds animal welfare standards, and leads emergency responses to biosecurity incidents, aligning with the Department's strategic goals.
As our Senior Farm Hand, you will engage in practical animal-related activities on the farm and quarantine sheds, contributing to Queensland's biosecurity efforts.
