About the Client
Sweet Inspirations is a reputable and established cafe located in Campbellfield, Victoria. They are currently looking for an experienced Pastry Cook to join their team.
The Role
This is a full-time position with an annual salary of $73,500 plus superannuation.
Responsibilities
* Ensure equipment and workspace are clean and meet health and safety standards to prevent contamination
* Inspect quality of raw materials and discard any that do not meet standards
* Accurately weigh and measure ingredients according to recipe requirements
* Knead, mature, cut, mould, mix, and shape dough and pastry for a variety of goods
* Prepare a range of fillings for pastries that complement the dough
* Monitor oven temperatures and appearance of items to determine correct baking times
* Coordinate forming, loading, baking, unloading, de-panning, and cooling of batches
* Glaze buns and pastries, and decorate cakes with cream and icing
* Operate machinery for rolling, moulding dough, and cutting biscuits
* Regularly empty, clean, and grease baking trays, tins, and other equipment
* Experiment with new recipes and tweak existing ones to create unique pastry products
* Keep a detailed inventory of supplies and ingredients, restocking as necessary
* Stay updated with and adhere to the latest food safety guidelines and regulations
* Collaborate with kitchen staff and assist in training new or less experienced pastry cooks
Requirements
* At least a Certificate 3 qualification in Baking or Patisserie
* At least 1 year experience as a Pastry Cook in a commercial bakery
* Must have at least 1 year experience in baking Lebanese pastries
* Must have at least 1 year experience preparing baklava, maamoul, znoud el sit, atayef, and knafeh
* Must have at least 1 year experience working with semolina, ghee, rose/orange blossom water, and nuts such as pistachios, walnuts, almonds
* Effective English and good communication skills
* Seeking a long-term, full-time role
* Excellent presentation and communication skills
* Ability to work a 7-day rotating roster
* Able to pass health, hygiene, and food handling requirements
