The Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP) - a project commissioning, designing and constructing a new manufacturing facility in Torbanlea Qld and a new maintenance facility in Ormeau Qld. It includes manufacturing and delivering 65 EMU Train sets (390 cars) by the end of 2031.
Combined local and international design teams and suppliers will work together to ensure the delivery of manufacturing requirements and associated documentation to ensure that train sets locally manufactured in Australia meet the design, compliance, manufactuability, reliability, maintainability and safety specifications for the trains operational life for a minimum of at least 35 years.
About the Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced Production Planner/Scheduler to support the QTMP project through effective production planning, reporting, and cross-functional coordination. This role is ideal for someone with strong rolling stock experience, exceptional planning capabilities, and the ability to work collaboratively with engineering, operations, consortium partners and customer teams.

Reporting to the Planning Manager, you will be responsible for monitoring and planning the manufacturing and technical requirements for the QTMP project. You will develop and maintain the production plan, manage schedules, track progress, and provide weekly performance reporting. Your work will play a critical role in ensuring delivery milestones are met and aligned with project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
* Production Planning & Scheduling
* Develop, update and maintain clear production plans, schedules and timelines.
* Monitor daily/weekly progress against production requirements and milestones.
* Prepare planning reports, Gantt charts, and scenario-based planning analysis.
* Work closely with Engineering, Logistics, Operations and Quality teams to understand modifications, resource requirements and constraints.
* Liaise with consortium partners, customers, and operator partners as required.
* Gather feedback and ensure plans align with broader strategic objectives.
* Maintain accurate planning records and documentation.
* Provide weekly performance reports outlining progress, risks, and mitigation actions.
* Review existing project plans and propose improvements to support business goals
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
* Preferred experience in Rolling stock or alternatively, from similar industries such as Aviation, Defence, Heavy Industry and Manufacturing
* Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.
* Commercial acumen
* Proven ability to interpret Gantt charts and create planning reports.
* Strong scenario planning and analytical skills.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presenting to senior and external stakeholders.
* Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
* Ability to work independently and within a team, managing competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Solid computer skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
