Primary objective
The role is responsible for the delivery of the NT Government urgent repairs and cyclical maintenance program; including managing
period and panel contracts related to the position's area of specialisation for maintaining building assets on behalf of agencies.
Additionally, the role delivers a range of assigned Capital Works, Minor Works and Maintenance projects for Northern Territory
Government agencies within their area of expertise and provides technical advice and assistance in relation to projects across the
Territory.
Context statement
The Maintenance branch is responsible for emergency and disaster management response for built infrastructure in the northern
region and supporting regional offices to deliver infrastructure works and asset maintenance.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Manage all phases of allocated trade-based project delivery and contract management, provide high level assistance and advice
on project, and contract-related matters. Driving to project sites and meetings with stakeholders will be required.
2. Recommend, implement and administer appropriate construction contracts and provide regular reporting of project status.
3. Assess resources/skills needs for the delivery of projects and build and maintain excellent stakeholder relationships.
4. Ensure projects meet the requirements of the NT Building Act, National Construction Code and Australian Standards as applied
in the NT.
5. Carry out all duties in accordance with Departmental WHS, EEO and environmental guidelines.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. A trade qualification in Mechanical – Heating Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC&R) or equivalent
experience directly relevant to the position.
2. Strong current technical knowledge and extensive experience in the National Construction Code, relevant to Centralised Plant
HVAC and Building Mechanical Services.,
1. Substantial knowledge and experience in building project and contract management, including assessing and managing human
and financial resources, with broad knowledge and experience in procurement, contract conditions and interpretation of
legislation.
1. Knowledge of project reporting and processes in planning, implementing and evaluating projects, with well-developed IT
knowledge and skills including MS Office-based software, project management tools and mainframe systems.
1. Good understanding of factors that may impact on project outcomes for the relevant agency and ability to ensure functional
briefs are understood and match agency requirements.
1. Effective oral and written communication and negotiation and problem-solving ability relating to the delivery of infrastructure
projects in a client focussed, cross-cultural environment.
1. Ability to manage pressure and change, analyse risk, apply discretion, initiative, confidentiality and adaptability, and meet
deadlines.
1. Current NT Drivers licence or ability to obtain.
Desirable
1. A current Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (ARCTICK) Licence issued by a relevant Australian State or Territory Licensing
Board.
