The District Manager (DM) plays a pivotal role in this mission.
As the senior operational leader of a cluster of cities, this role ensures that every city in their district runs to the highest standards of customer service, fleet readiness, safety, and profitability.
This role serves as the critical bridge between field execution and company-wide strategy, shaping performance, enabling growth, and driving success across multiple markets.
Role Overview The District Manager is responsible for the overall performance, financial health, and operational execution of a district comprising multiple cities.
This includes: Leading & developing a group of City Leads across several markets Ensuring consistent customer experience and service excellence across cities.
Driving cluster profitability through cost discipline, efficiency, & revenue growth across all business units.
Promoting a strong connection with local and central teams by combining regular field presence, flexible leadership availability Guaranteeing the execution of critical company initiatives at the city level.
This position requires strong operational acumen, proven leadership, financial discipline, and the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities Financial Performance & Profitability Oversight Own the district's overall financial performance, ensuring profitable growth across all business units, Rental, RV Sales and Servicing.
Review P&L performance city-by-city, identifying gaps, risks, and corrective actions.
Drive cost optimisation across labour, servicing, suppliers, logistics, fleet usage, and consumables.
Collaborate with Finance Business Partners on forecast, budget, and financial strategy.
Ensure City Leads apply strong cost-control discipline in daily operations.
Cluster Leadership & Multi-City Management Lead and oversee a district of multiple cities across varying sizes and categories.
Ensure consistent standards of operational excellence across all cities.
Support City Leads with strategic direction, problem-solving, and execution.
Conduct weekly alignment calls and monthly performance reviews with each City Lead.
Ensure every city follows SOPs, safety rules, workflows, and customer service rituals.
Operational Excellence & Fleet Performance Oversee fleet readiness, utilisation, turnaround times, and unavailability across the district.
Coordinate with Rental, Servicing, and regional teams to ensure fleet supply meets demand.
Implement district-level plans to reduce downtime and increase service capacity.
Drive standardisation and compliance across rental, servicing, and RV sales processes.
Customer Experience & District-Wide Quality Promote a customer-centric approach consistently throughout all city operations.
Monitor customer satisfaction, complaints, and recurring service issues; enforce corrective plans.
Ensure consistent service rituals, professional communication, and quality checks across all cities.
Ensure escalations are resolved quickly and professionally.
People Leadership, Coaching & Talent Development Lead, coach, and mentor all City Leads in the district.
Build a high-performance culture rooted in accountability, teamwork, and ownership.
Identify leadership gaps and create tailored development plans for City Leads.
Work closely with the People team and Talent recruiters to hire top talent and manage performance.
Promote internal mobility and career progression driven by performance ("climb the ladder" philosophy).
Builds strong leadership by mentoring next-in-line talent to ensure full coverage, continuity, and operational stability during absence or district needs.
Cross-Functional Partnership & Stakeholder Management Builds strong cross-functional collaboration, driving unified decision-making, operational standardisation, and consistent customer experience across the district.
Influences and partners with internal stakeholders at all levels, ensuring that district priorities, performance needs, and operational insights are integrated into company-wide strategies.
Growth & Expansion Execution Drives district growth by supporting new market openings and expansion initiatives, ensuring operational readiness, resource planning, and seamless execution aligned with Indie Campers' expansion roadmap.
Oversees the in-fleeting of new vehicles across the district, coordinating fleet allocation, workshop readiness, local infrastructure, and team preparedness to ensure new units are fully operational from day one.
Strategic & Commercial Execution Across the District Drive district-level targets across rental, servicing, and RV sales.
Identify commercial opportunities, pricing gaps, and ancillary growth potential.
Oversee demo readiness and vehicle sales execution across all cities.
Support City Leads in managing vendor performance and contract compliance.
Compliance, Safety & Audit Management Ensure all cities comply with legal, safety, and operational requirements.
Oversee audit preparation: documentation accuracy, fleet criteria, stock control, servicing, and safety standards.
Develop action plans for low-performing cities to quickly correct deviations.
High-Visibility Leadership & On-Site Presence Conduct regular city visits and operational walk-throughs.
Step in to support critical operational moments (peak weeks, major issues).
Promote hands-on leadership, proximity, and operational discipline by example.
Experience and Qualifications 7-10+ years of operational leadership in mobility, logistics, hospitality, rental, or multi-site management.
Proven track record in managing large teams and multiple locations.
Strong financial acumen and experience interpreting P&Ls.
Excellent communication, coaching, and crisis-management skills.
High proficiency in Excel/Sheets and KPI dashboards.
Ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead through complexity.
Hands-on leadership style with strong problem-solving skills.
Driving License (Category B) required.
Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
