Are you a relationship builder with a proven track record in the public transport or critical infrastructure sector? Commend, a global leader in cyber‐secure intercoms, PA systems, help points, and mission‐critical communication solutions, is looking for a driven Junior Account Manager to manage and grow key accounts across public transport and broader critical infrastructure sectors nationally.
In this role, you will be the primary point of contact for a portfolio of strategic clients — forging long‐term partnerships, identifying growth opportunities, and ensuring Commend's solutions continue to deliver safety, reliability, and value across some of Australia's most critical networks. This role is based in our Smeaton Grange (NSW) Office.
Key Responsibilities
You will manage and develop a portfolio of accounts spanning public transport authorities and operators, as well as broader critical infrastructure clients including consultants and system integrators. Day‐to‐day, this means building deep, trusted relationships with stakeholders at every level — from project managers and engineers through to executive decision‐makers — and ensuring they get the most from Commend's solutions.
Alongside nurturing existing accounts and supporting the National Business Development Manager, you will actively drive new business within the public transport sector and expand Commend's presence across adjacent critical infrastructure markets such as energy, utilities, and public safety. You will work closely with our pre‐sales technical and after‐sales service teams to ensure seamless client experiences from first conversation through to ongoing support.
You will keep a close eye on market trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities across Australia, represent Commend at industry events and sector forums, and provide regular reporting on account performance and pipeline activity to the COO.
What we're looking for
We are looking for someone with a background in account management, sales, or business development — ideally with experience in the public transport sector or critical infrastructure more broadly. An existing national network within public transport authorities, operators, or related government bodies would be a real advantage, though we care more about the kind of relationships you build than the list of organisations you've worked with.
You will bring a consultative, solution‐oriented approach to account management and have the communication skills to engage confidently with technical teams and senior stakeholders alike. A genuine curiosity about technology — particularly communication systems, networked infrastructure, and cyber‐secure solutions — will help you thrive in this role. Knowledge of technologies such as intercom systems, PA and emergency broadcast, help points, VoIP/SIP, or integrated building systems is a bonus, though not essential.
Above all, we are looking for someone who is self‐motivated, adaptable, and a strong cultural fit — someone who takes pride in their work, genuinely cares about their clients, and wants to be part of a team that is doing something meaningful. You will be comfortable working autonomously, whether from our Sydney office or remotely from Brisbane.
