About the Team
This role is an integral part of AIG's Commercial Property team in Australia and reports into the Head of Commercial Property, Australia. AIG Property is a global leader in its field and deploys market leading capacity across a diverse range of Industries in both the Corporate and Middle Market segments.
About the role
Reporting to the Head of Commercial Property, the main objective of the role is Underwriting and development of profitable business within the Commercial Property portfolio in accordance with Company Guidelines and risk appetite.
What you need to know
Key accountabilities will include but not limited to:
- The underwriting and acceptance of business within the Property portfolio, in accordance with underwriting principles, relevant authority, and risk & compliance procedures
- Risk Assessment and underwriting of Renewal and New Business including presenting and issuance of terms and binding
- Completion, checking and issuance of documentation, underwriting worksheets, insurance certificates in accordance with corporate guidelines
- Preparation and issuance of Policy wording documentation endorsements and other required documents and ensuring they are in accordance with corporate guidelines
- Maintain / develop working relationships with all brokers of existing accounts and potential new accounts
- Identify new business opportunities for other profit centres to support the companies cross marketing strategy
- Liaise with all relevant departments to ensure awareness of underwriting and business activities support standards required
- Responsible for contribution towards the achievement of budgeted production objectives of Commercial Property
- Assist the Profit Centre Technical Services personnel in handling all aspects of the Processing and the administration of Commercial Property Profit Centre
- Liaise with Profit Centre Manager to facilitate provision of current month, quarter and year to date production estimates for Commercial Property
- Maintenance of activity records of quotations and strike rates
- Assist where necessary the National and Regional Product Lines Managers
What we're looking for:
- Experience within the Insurance Industry and preferably with Commercial Property underwriting
- Excellent organizational and communication skills to manage workflow for both new business and renewals
- Strong analytical skills, customer focus, interpersonal and relationship management skills.
