Key Responsibilities
* Craft compelling media releases, speeches, and communication materials that support our strategic and corporate objectives
* Prepare timely and accurate responses to media enquiries
* Contribute to the planning and execution of communication strategies for projects, programs, and initiatives
* Navigate complex and sensitive media issues with sound judgment and discretion
* Deliver high-quality outputs under pressure and tight deadlines—both independently and as part of a small, multi-disciplinary team
* Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external media representatives to drive engagement and solve communication challenges proactively
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related discipline
* Local Government Experience
* Proven experience in corporate communications and strategic public relations
* Strong track record in developing and implementing communication strategies and measuring their success
* Skilled in managing media relations, including identifying risks or opportunities and preparing media statements
* Exceptional organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines
* Demonstrated problem-solving skills using research, analysis, and critical thinking to inform decisions
* Current Class C Driver's Licence
