Mater is seeking an experienced Senior Test Analyst / UKG Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our major UKG Pro Workforce Management implementation. This is a hands‐on role suited to someone who enjoys complex testing, problem‐solving, and ensuring systems perform exactly as designed—particularly within payroll, time and attendance, and workforce management environments.
The successful candidate will bring strong UKG platform knowledge and play a key role in supporting testing activities, validating configuration, and providing subject matter expertise across the implementation.
This is a maximum-term (up to 12 months), full‐time role based at our Newstead offices.
Key Responsibilities
* Reporting to the Test Lead, you will play a key role in designing, executing, and coordinating testing activities across the UKG Pro Workforce Management program. In addition to your testing responsibilities, you will act as a UKG Subject Matter Expert (SME), providing functional guidance and supporting the validation of system configuration, pay rules, and workforce management processes.
* Develop detailed test cases and end-to-end test scenarios across the UKG WFM solution.
* Ensure comprehensive test coverage across time capture, scheduling/rostering, award interpretation, leave management, payroll interfaces, and system integrations.
* Provide UKG SME support to validate configuration, pay rules, and workforce management processes during design, build, and testing phases.
* Support functional walkthroughs and solution validation with business stakeholders and SMEs.
* Execute System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and Payroll Parallel testing cycles.
* Log, track, and elevate defects using Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar defect management tools.
* Provide clear and detailed defect evidence, including replication steps and payroll or operational impacts.
* Support UAT coordination, including walkthroughs, test readiness activities, and execution tracking.
* Work closely with business SMEs, DTI, and vendor teams to investigate and resolve issues.
* Contribute to the development of the test strategy, identification of delivery risks, and continuous improvement of testing practices within the program.
* Provide subject matter input to support configuration validation, solution design discussions, and operational readiness activities.
About you
You will bring strong experience in the testing lifecycle along with practical UKG subject matter expertise, enabling you to contribute both as a Test Analyst and a functional SME within the UKG Pro Workforce Management implementation. You will be comfortable working across technical and business teams, helping to validate configuration, interpret workforce management requirements, and ensure testing outcomes reflect real operational scenarios.
Qualifications
* A strong understanding of the full testing lifecycle and quality assurance methodologies.
* Experience using test management and defect tracking tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, or Quality Centre.
* Proven experience working as a Test Analyst within complex system implementations.
* UKG Pro / Kronos Workforce Management subject matter expertise, particularly across time and attendance, scheduling, and payroll integration.
* Strong analytical and problem‐solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes and support resolution.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
* Experience working with Workforce Management (WFM), HRIS, or payroll systems (highly desirable).
* Knowledge of award interpretation, pay rule logic, or payroll reconciliation processes (advantageous).
* Exposure to Time & Attendance, Payroll, or HRIS systems (Kronos / UKG Pro highly regarded).
* A degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
* Experience working within the healthcare industry (desirable).
