The Senior IT Administrator is responsible for planning, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of all Rohde & Schwarz Australia's networking and datacenter infrastructure which supports the organization's internal and external communications, and day‐to‐day operations. The role retains core IT administration duties (desktop/laptop support, software deployment, datacenter services/support), the primary emphasis is on ensuring a secure, high‐performance, and highly‐available network environment. Strong network skills and experience are a requirement. The majority of the work will be within Australia but there will be an expectation to join calls with international teams on a regular basis.
Tasks
* Lead the implementation of LAN, WAN, and Firewall architectures (Australia) that meet capacity, redundancy, and security requirements.
* Experience with Aruba Routers, Checkpoint Firewalls and Cisco switching is desirable.
* Provide level 1 and 2 network infrastructure support as part of a global operational team.
* Oversee day‐to‐day administration of Windows Server, Hypervisors, and cloud services.
* Support enterprise backup/recovery platforms and support, supporting DR testing.
* Implement and maintain security baselines (DISP, ISO27001) across servers, endpoints, and network devices.
* Support vulnerability scans, patch management, and remediation works.
* Coordinate with international teams on SIEM, endpoint detection & response (EDR), and incident response.
* Lead medium size IT projects (e.g., Network infrastructure rollout, Application rollout).
* Provide level 2 and 3 support of remote offices and personnel in Australia including frequent (average approximately once a month) travel to Australian offices and annually to Germany.
Your Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
* Extensive experience in both enterprise network and system administration. Can demonstrate where networking has been a primary role.
* Problem Solving – Rapid diagnosis of complex network failures and implementation of sustainable fixes.
* Communication – Translate technical concepts for non‐technical stakeholders; produce clear documentation and status reports.
* Customer Service Orientation – Proactive support for internal users and external partners.
* Time Management – Prioritize incidents and projects while adhering to SLA/SLM commitments.
* Team Collaboration – Work closely with security, server, cloud, and application teams; mentor junior staff.
