Where you'll be working
Griffith Base Hospital is a 119 bed facility with 100 hospital care beds and 10 maternity beds. The ED provides a 24 hour service with 15 ED spaces, and is supported by an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with telehealth connections to NSW Critical Care Advisory Service.
At Murrumbidgee Local Health District we provide a range of public health services to the Riverina and Murray regions of New South Wales, across a geographic area of approximately 125,631 square kilometres. We employ around 3,500 staff across 31 facilities and support services.
What Youll Be Doing
A Visiting Medical Officer is required to provide non procedural GP services at Griffith Base Hospital. The VMO will provide a high level of clinical care to patients and participate in the on call roster. VMOs participate in service and policy development, education, training and quality improvement projects, and support core NSW public sector values of diversity, equity, and ethical practice.

Selection Criteria
- Current Registration: MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist General Practitioner.
- Minimum three (3) years post graduate clinical experience. Previous experience in Emergency Medicine, General Practice, Adult Internal Medicine, Paediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology or Rural Medicine is an advantage.
- Knowledge of contemporary clinical management and up-to-date approaches for acute and chronic conditions; competence in minor urgent procedures in rural ED including Advanced Life Support and Trauma management.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership.
- Commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.
- Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
- Commitment to NSW Health CORE values and MLHD values, goals and strategies.
