About the Role
The Rail Safety Officer will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of personnel and equipment on a major metro project. This includes coordinating and managing all delivery aspects of rail safety, as well as assisting senior management with health and safety policy procedures, legislation, and training requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage compliance obligations under relevant health and safety legislation and regulations.
* Provide direction and assistance to project personnel on best practice, process, and procedure.
* Stop progress where health or safety is being compromised.
* Develop, maintain, and upgrade the WHS Management Plan and Safety Assurance Management System.
* Assist senior management with WHS policy procedures, legislation, and training requirements.
* Monitor compliance with health and safety management systems.
Requirements
* Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, WHS, Environmental Health, or a related field.
* Proven experience as a Health and Safety Advisor, Coordinator, or Rail Safety Officer in the construction industry.
* Minimum 2+ years working on a rail project.
* Strong knowledge of relevant rail safety and health & safety legislation, regulations, and codes of practice.
