About the Opportunity
The Senior Director, Project Finance works closely with the Chief Investment Officer as a senior member of NAIF’s Investments Leadership team, and is based in Perth. The role leads origination and execution activities across sectors and jurisdictions, provides oversight and expertise on the execution of complex transactions, and provides strategic leadership and mentoring to Directors and investment team members. It plays a key role in shaping NAIF’s investment pipeline, representing NAIF with government and market stakeholders, and ensuring transactions are progressed in line with NAIF’s mandate, risk appetite and governance frameworks. Structuring of transactions is a core competency of this role.
The key responsibilities of this role are to assist and support the Chief Investment Officer by:
* Participating as a senior member of the Investments Leadership team, role modelling NAIF values and behaviours.
* Originating, structuring and executing complex transactions, including preparation and presentation of credit submissions and Board papers.
* Providing leadership, mentoring and development to Directors and investment team members.
* Driving deal processes, timelines and outcomes across proponents, financiers, advisors and government stakeholders.
* Building and maintaining strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
* Presenting to a range of forums such as conferences, industry groups, government committees and policy workshops.
About You
* At least 15 years’ experience in financial or related institutions, with deep experience in complex project finance transactions.
* Extensive natural resource industry contacts.
* Significant senior leadership experience within banking or financial services.
* Strong experience negotiating complex financing arrangements and loan documentation.
* Excellent communication skills, including experience presenting to Boards and senior stakeholders.
* Highly organised, able to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes in high-pressure environments with minimal supervision.
