About the role

Greater Bank and Newcastle Permanent have come together to form NGM Group Ltd, a powerhouse in customer-owned banking. As part of our commitment to a sustainable future, we're pleased to be seeking a sustainability professional to join us in our newly created Sustainability Manager – Climate role. Leveraging your proven track record in this space, you'll lead NGM Group's climate strategy, decarbonisation initiatives, and reporting efforts, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and alignment with best-practice sustainability frameworks.

Key responsibilities

* Mature and implement NGM Group's climate action/transition plan and decarbonisation roadmap.
* Monitor progress toward climate goals and identify opportunities for emissions reduction and operational improvement.
* Conduct annual carbon footprint assessments, oversee data collection, and ensure solutions are practical, commercial, and aligned with organisational direction.
* Stay current with evolving climate reporting frameworks and best practices through networks and relevant associations.
* Drive continuous improvement in climate reporting processes and outcomes, ensuring compliance with all relevant reporting requirements.
* Prepare and submit regulatory disclosures in alignment with internal governance and external standards, supporting evidence collection and substantiation for climate disclosures.
* Oversee assurance processes for climate and sustainability data, coordinating with internal and external auditors to ensure integrity and compliance.
* Integrate the Sustainability Report in partnership with the Sustainability Manager – Community Impact.
* Chair and manage the Sustainability Council and advisory groups, and facilitate collaboration with stakeholders to advance climate objectives.
* Provide expert advice to the Head of Community and Sustainability to inform senior leadership and board governance on climate risks, opportunities, and reporting.
* Contribute to overall Community & Sustainability divisional activities as required.

What we're looking for

* Minimum 5 years' experience in a sustainability, or community-related role.
* Strong knowledge of sustainability reporting frameworks, regulatory requirements, and their connection to material business risks and opportunities.
* Proven ability to develop and lead communication strategies and projects independently.
* Exceptional stakeholder engagement and executive communication skills.
* Strategic thinker with the ability to mentor, inspire, and deliver results.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and confidence operating at senior levels.
* Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as Environmental Science, Business, or Communications.
* Leadership experience (highly regarded).
