We're seeking a skilled Employment Lawyer to join a prominent in-house legal team in Melbourne on a 6-9 month secondment (with the potential to extend). This is an excellent opportunity to apply your expertise in employment law and industrial relations within one of Australia's largest employers and most recognisable brands. You will work closely with the Head of Industrial Relations, Legal, HR and business leaders on a range of complex workplace matters and projects while helping to manage legal risk and support compliance in a highly regulated space.
Key Responsibilities
Advise on employment law matters including employment agreements, awards, terminations, performance management and workplace investigations
Navigate complex industrial relations issues, including union engagement and enterprise bargaining
Draft and review workplace policies, contracts, and dispute correspondence
Provide practical legal advice to HR and operational leaders on workforce strategy and compliance
Assist in responding to claims or regulatory investigations (e.g. Fair Work Commission matters)
Monitor legislative changes and provide updates to stakeholders
Contribute to training and internal guidance materials
About You
Qualified Australian Legal Practitioner with 4-8 years post-admission experience (PQE)
Strong background in employment law with demonstrable industrial relations experience
Previous experience in a reputable law firm or in-house legal function
Excellent communication and advisory skills with the ability to balance legal risk and commercial outcomes
Comfortable working with HR, senior leaders, and external counsel
Proactive, professional, and adaptable in a fast-paced setting
