Whales Regional Workforce is hiring an Employment Relations Officer to support our Pacific Islander workforce in regional NSW.
About the Role
This is a hands-on, operational role focused on employee welfare, conflict resolution, policy implementation, and compliance with Australian employment laws. You'll be the go-to person for our workers — not just from behind a desk, but out on the factory floor, building genuine relationships with our team.
What You'll Do
Act as a trusted point of contact for employees with workplace or personal concernsSpend time on-site at meat processing facilities, engaging directly with workersMediate and resolve workplace conflicts between employees and managementDeliver policy training and ensure compliance with Fair Work Act, PALM Deed & NESProvide culturally appropriate welfare support for Pacific Islander workersCoordinate employee engagement programs and team-building activitiesMaintain case records and prepare reports on workplace trends
What We're Looking For
Degree or Diploma in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Social Work, Psychology, or Welfare1+ years' experience in HR, Employee Relations, or welfare-related roles (entry-level applicants with relevant internship/community experience welcome)Experience in labour hire, seasonal worker programs, or culturally diverse workplaces preferredStrong interpersonal and conflict resolution skillsKnowledge of Australian employment lawsComfortable working in factory/operational environmentsCultural competence, especially with Pacific Islander communities
