We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Head of Department - Science to join our leadership team and lead our Science Faculty. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the department, ensuring the highest standards of teaching and learning, contributing to the strategic development of the curriculum and have a demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with staff and students. This is a temporary full-time position until 11 December 2026, unless otherwise determined.

The Ipswich State High School is one of the largest school‐based Registered Training Organisations in Queensland, offering over 30 nationally recognised certificate courses. Ipswich State High was the first school in Australia to provide a retail Hair and Beauty service to members of the public from its own commercial salon on the school site. It is the home of the Ipswich Trade Training Centre, recently built Performing Arts Centre, a new, state‐of‐the‐art STEM centre and offers five High Performance Academies, providing elite training and coaching programs.

* Lead strategically and professionally by remaining future‐focused and engaging in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
* Manage departmental responsibilities effectively by understanding relevant legislation and policies and coordinating human, financial, facility and curriculum resources to achieve goals.
