About The Role
The role of Governance and Access to Information Officer is responsible for the provision of guidance, advice and support to staff in relation to Governance matters including, but not limited to, the management of Central Coast Council (CCC) policies, staff delegations, Code of Conduct, Legislative Compliance Registers and providing public access to Council information in accordance with the Governance Information (Public Access) Act.
Reporting to the Section Manager Governance, this role will see you provide professional customer service to the public and internal staff whilst providing public access to documents in accordance with relevant legislation. In addition, you will be tasked with using your specialist knowledge to make determinations, recommendations and preparing correspondence in relation to the processing of document access applications.
This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.
To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Have
* a Certificate III qualification in Business Administration, Recordkeeping or related field OR demonstrated solid contemporary experience in a similar role, combined with ongoing professional development
* the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with staff and the public
* knowledge of local government legislation and the structure, process and functions of local government
* experience in interpreting and applying the GIPA Act and relevant PPIP Act in a public sector environment, including the preparation of documents and correspondence for determinations and reviews
* experience dealing with confidential and sensitive matters

Other Important Information
* The commencing salary for this position is up to $76.9k per year. Central Coast Council also provides progression opportunities for employees to progress up to the maximum salary of $89.1k per year on completion of assessment of skills and performance plus 12% superannuation
* We have a two permanent full-time roles available.
* This role will be able to access a 9 day fortnight.
* We are able to offer hybrid and flexible working conditions for this role - 2 days from home and 3 days onsite.
* This role is located at the Wyong Administration Building.
Council may create an eligibility list from this recruitment process and may utilise this eligibility list to fill other permanent or temporary vacancies.
