Your Next Employer
This globally backed agribusiness manages high-value assets across viticulture, tree crops and broadacre. Their operations combine modern farm management with a clear commitment to environmental stewardship and long-term returns for investors.
The Tasmanian viticulture portfolio comprises three vineyards: Pipers River (140 ha), Evandale (40 ha), and a newly acquired site in southern TAS (~100ha), which is about to move into development. Pipers River has been planted in three stages (2023–2025), with the first harvest due in 2026. Each vineyard is run to high commercial and sustainability standards, supported by modern infrastructure, clear performance metrics and skilled local teams. Important to note that this portfolio grows premium wine grapes to winery specifications; it does not produce wine.
This business values capability, accountability and professional growth, offering structured support without the red tape.
The Role
Reporting to the Regional Manager – Tasmania, your focus is on leading day-to-day vineyard operations at Pipers River.
You'll be responsible for executing the seasonal program, optimising vine establishment, and managing a team of three FTEs plus seasonal workers. You'll balance hands-on decision-making with strategic input, working closely with viticulturists, contractors, and the wider operations team.
This is a boots-on-the-ground leadership role: set priorities, allocate resources and keep timelines tight. You will play a key role in shaping the vineyard's long-term performance as the site matures.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver Operational Programs: Execute vineyard plans, including nutrition, spraying, canopy management, and irrigation.
* Lead and Develop the Team: Manage a core team of 3 operators (growing to 4), plus up to 20 seasonal staff at peak.
* Oversee Irrigation & Machinery: Manage modern irrigation systems and equipment use across the vineyard.
* Maintain Safety & Compliance: Ensure staff and contractors are inducted and trained in WHS and environmental protocols.
* Support Vineyard Development: Contribute to early-stage vineyard establishment, with opportunity to shape new sites.
* Drive Efficiency: Operate within set budgets and seek continuous improvement in labour, inputs, and processes.
What You Bring
* Experience managing commercial vineyards, ideally in cool-climate regions or with young vines. Note: Individuals coming from a strong horticultural background or with similar crop experience are encouraged to apply.
* Proven leadership skills - able to set direction, mentor operators, and manage contractors.
* A commercial mindset - focused on fruit yield, quality, and cost control.
* Strong irrigation and machinery know-how, with a practical, solutions-focused approach.
* Candidates looking to step up into a multi-site leadership role are encouraged to apply.
What You'll Gain
* Salary: $110k – $135k + Super + Vehicle + 10% annual bonus
* Support: Work closely with an experienced Regional Manager and wider support team.
* Career Pathway: Potential to step into multi-site leadership within 6–12 months (Pipers & Evandale).
* Lifestyle: Based near Launceston, with a manageable daily commute (~35–40 mins).
