Job Description
The KPMG State Taxes team is a market-leading, dynamic, and engaging group that handles some of the most significant transactions in the Australian market. Our clients span private equity, infrastructure, property, financial services, and more.
Your Opportunity
You will engage in a variety of daily tasks, working directly and independently with clients, including:
1. Tax due diligence – Assist in buy-side and sell-side due diligence, focusing on duty and land tax exposures, risk assessment, and clear communication.
2. Structuring – Advise on duty implications of mergers, acquisitions, restructures, and divestments.
3. Post-deal implementation – Identify duty obligations and help prepare submissions for lodgements, applications, rulings, and objections with revenue authorities.
4. Advisory – Conduct tax research, offer advice on tax planning, and help clients manage tax risks.
5. Updates – Keep up-to-date with developments in state taxes and participate in training sessions.
Additionally, you will develop ongoing relationships with clients across industries such as infrastructure, property, energy, natural resources, and financial services, providing valued advice on duty and land tax compliance, planning, and dispute resolution.
Your Experience

* A completed Bachelor's degree in Law, complemented by studies in Accounting, Commerce, Economics, or similar; recent M&A or transactional experience is a plus.

* Proactive attitude and responsibility-taking.
