Salary: $113,022 - $124,884 + 12% Superannuation. Office Location: Eastern Region (Moe, Bairnsdale, Chelsea or Benalla Offices)
Role Summary
The Senior Health and Safety Advisor (Senior HSA) is responsible for planning, coordinating and monitoring the operational safety activities for the VICSES Eastern Region. This role supports regional leadership in ensuring adherence with VICSES health and safety standards, implementing safety initiatives, and provides guidance to volunteers and staff on risk‐management practices. The position plays a critical role in promoting a proactive health and safety culture and enabling the region to deliver VICSES services safely and effectively.
The Senior HSA coordinates and delivers a range of key workplace activities and provides advice and guidance to people managers, employees and volunteer members on health and safety matters through the development of strong working relationships and partnerships. This will include working collaboratively across the regions to ensure hazards and incidents are effectively managed, workplace inspections completed, investigations conducted, risks assessed and psychosocial impacts addressed to enable a safe working environment for all VICSES members. Includes delivery of training and awareness sessions as required.
This role requires a flexible and solution‐focused approach with the ability to balance competing demands and to coach and influence line managers and volunteer Unit Controllers to assist them to lead their area toward VICSES' goals.
The role may support Emergency Management Victoria in major operations by fulfilling Safety Advisor/Safety Officer roles in Incident Management Teams and /or H&S Duty officer. This is an all‐hazards role that requires providing support to other emergency service organisations as required by the event. Requires frequent travel to regional offices and volunteer‐lead units.

We support them to understand their risk and the relevance of taking action before, during and after emergency events. As the largest road rescue network in Australia we have specialist teams that provide a 24/7 response to road accident and trauma incidents. We assist Victoria Police in search and rescue operations, and play an important role in supporting the CFA, FRV, Parks Victoria and DEECA during major bushfire and emergency incidents.
