Responsibilities

In this unique opportunity, the Head of Research in Adelaide University Rural Health, will assist with supporting students to develop an interest in small town rural generalist practice. You will lead rural research capacity building, manage large research projects, prepare research proposal submissions, financial management of grants, and support the development of systems and procedures to facilitate rural general practice and student engagement in rural research.

The preference is for the successful candidate to be based in Whyalla or Pt Lincoln.

The Team

Reporting to the Co‐Director, Adelaide University Rural Health, this position will be responsible for building on and fostering relationships across the school, wider university and international research community, as well as stakeholders within regional and rural health services and research institutes.

Experience

* A doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline, together with a substantial rural and primary care research track record and be recognised as a leading authority in the area of research and/or scholarship
* Established strong program of research capable of attracting substantial external funding and grant allocation bodies and being published in top tier/quartile journals
* Demonstrated track record in the ability to foster a collaborative cross‐disciplinary research culture, promoting research collaboration and opportunities for engagement at the School level and the wider University and international research community
* Demonstrated ability to provide research leadership and support in a field of rural health to systematically promote an international reputation for place‐based rural research excellence
* Demonstrate commitment to working with Aboriginal staff, students and health professionals to close the gap in health and educational outcomes
* Demonstrated skills and experience in managing and/or leading large research projects or teams, including director supervision of research staff
* Evidence of effective engagement with key external stakeholders including regional and rural health services, research institutes
* Strong record of successful supervision of higher degree research projects
* Demonstrated track record in representing Rural Programs, in relevant University committees, as well as external to the University
