Behaviour Support Specialist
This Behaviour Support Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the social, emotional and educational needs of students who have complex behaviours associated with neurodevelopmental disorders.

The successful applicant will be responsible for developing, implementing and reviewing behaviour support plans that cater to the individual needs of each student. The specialist will work closely with teachers, allied health professionals and school leaders to create a safe, supportive learning environment that promotes inclusivity and respect for diversity.
Key Responsibilities:
* Respond promptly to requests for immediate behaviour support during school hours;
* Collaborate with educators to develop tailored behaviour support strategies that enable students to access and engage with the curriculum;
* Develop and maintain up-to-date knowledge of positive behaviour support principles, trauma-informed practices, and neurodiversity-affirming approaches;
* Support staff in applying consistent, inclusive behaviour support strategies across all school settings;
* Maintain regular communication with families and participate in student support group meetings and individual education plan development;
* Promote respectful, inclusive interactions that acknowledge students' strengths, sensory profiles, and communication preferences;
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
* Qualifications in Education Support, Behavioural Science, Youth Work, Social Work, or a related field;
* Breadth and depth of understanding in positive behaviour support strategies;
* Ability to work proactively and flexibly in a dynamic specialist education setting;
* Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills;
* Current Working with Children Check (WWCC) and National Police Check, or ability to obtain;
Desirable:
* Experience working in a specialist or inclusive education setting aligned with the Australian Curriculum;
* Training in crisis prevention or de-escalation techniques;
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
* Develops, implements and reviews individualised behaviour support plans that cater to the unique needs of each student;
* Collaborates with educators to develop and implement behaviour support strategies that promote student engagement and inclusion;
* Provides ongoing support to teachers and other school staff in implementing behaviour support strategies and promoting positive behaviour;
* Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of behaviour support strategies and makes recommendations for improvement;
* Maintains accurate records of student progress and Behaviour Support Plans;
