About The Role
Barwon Health is seeking a highly competent Locum Radiation Oncologist to deliver safe, high‐quality, patient‐focused care within a leading regional cancer service. Based at the Andrew Love Cancer Centre in Geelong, you will join a dynamic team of staff specialists and advanced trainees, contributing to a culture of clinical excellence aligned with Barwon Health's values.
This role offers the opportunity to develop site‐specific expertise, support the adoption of innovative techniques and technologies, and play a key role in shaping the next generation of radiation oncology professionals through education, training and mentorship. You will also have access to a well‐established clinical trials unit and strong academic links with Deakin University, supporting involvement in clinical and translational research.
Barwon Health's Cancer Services provides a comprehensive, integrated model of care, delivering world‐class oncology services to the Geelong and South West Victoria community. The radiotherapy service is one of four public providers in Victoria and is equipped with state‐of‐the‐art technology, including Varian planning systems, three TrueBeam linear accelerators, a dedicated planning CT, and a superficial radiotherapy unit.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver high‐quality inpatient and outpatient radiation oncology care, including outreach clinics
* Provide patient‐centred care and support shared decision‐making
* Supervise, teach, and mentor junior medical staff and trainees
* Participate in on‐call, rostering, and clinical cover requirements
* Contribute to clinical governance, including guideline development, audits, and quality improvement activities
* Engage in education, training, and multidisciplinary team collaboration
* Participate in clinical research and clinical trials
* Maintain strong communication and collaborative relationships across teams and external partners
* Comply with organisational policies, professional standards, and mandatory training requirements
What We're Looking For
* Fellowship of RANZCR (or equivalent) and eligibility for AHPRA registration as a Radiation Oncologist
* Demonstrated clinical expertise in radiation oncology, with a strong commitment to patient‐centred, multidisciplinary care
* Proven ability to teach, supervise, and mentor junior staff, with well‐developed communication and leadership skills
* Interest or experience in clinical research and quality improvement
* A collaborative, flexible approach with commitment to clinical governance, safety, and Barwon Health's values
