Graduate Engineer – Automation & Manufacturing - 12 month contract

About the role
As part of a multidisciplinary, global engineering team, you will support the development and deployment of Detmold's global automation roadmap, working closely with manufacturing sites to improve efficiency, labour utilisation, quality and safety.
You'll gain practical exposure to automation technologies, engineering project delivery and continuous improvement while spending time on the factory floor, learning how equipment, processes and people come together in a live manufacturing environment.
Key responsibilities
* Support automation initiatives across packing, inspection, material handling and manufacturing processes
* Assist with engineering projects from concept through to commissioning, including FATs and installation support
* Contribute to improving manufacturing performance through OEE improvement, downtime reduction and root‐cause analysis
* Assist with mechanical and automation design using CAD tools and support standardised engineering solutions
* Provide technical support to local and global manufacturing sites
* Ensure all engineering activities align with safety, quality and compliance standards
About you
* Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automation or related Engineering discipline
* Graduate or 1–3 years' experience in manufacturing or an industrial environment
* Strong interest in automation and manufacturing systems
* Comfortable working on the factory floor and interacting with production teams
* Strong problem‐solving and communication skills
* Curious, proactive and eager to learn
Exposure to CAD, PLCs, robotics, vision systems or automation projects is advantageous.
