We are seeking a highly experienced Personal Carer with a strong dementia‑specific background to join our team within a residential aged care facility. This role is ideal for a compassionate professional who understands the complexities of dementia and is committed to delivering respectful, person‑centred care.
About the Role
You will provide hands‑on care and emotional support to residents living with dementia, ensuring their dignity, safety, and quality of life are maintained at all times. You will work collaboratively with nursing staff and allied health professionals to deliver best‑practice dementia care.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver high‑quality personal care in accordance with individual care plans
* Provide dementia‑specific support using person‑centred approaches
* Respond appropriately to behaviours of concern with calm and empathy
* Support residents with mobility, transfers, and activities of daily living
* Promote engagement in meaningful activities and routines
* Observe, document, and report changes in residents’ condition
* Maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive environment
Essential Criteria
* Extensive experience working with residents living with dementia in an aged care setting
* Strong understanding of dementia progression, behaviours, and care strategies
* Certificate III or IV in Aged Care, Individual Support, or equivalent
* Current First Aid & CPR
* National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
* Excellent communication skills and a compassionate, patient approach
Highly Desirable
* Dementia‑specific training or accreditation
* Experience working in secure dementia or memory support units
* Medication assistance competency
* Knowledge of Aged Care Quality Standards
