3 Key Points:

* Hands-on trust accounting in a busy law firm
* Support 70+ legal professionals across multiple practice areas
* Beachfront Southern Gold Coast office with modern legal tech

About the Client:

Our client is a long-established, full-service law firm with multiple offices along Australia's eastern seaboard. For more than 50 years they have acted for individuals, families and businesses across a broad mix of personal injury and compensation, family law, wills and estates, property and commercial matters.

Their lawyers work in specialist practice teams, meaning the finance function supports a wide variety of legal files and trust transactions every day. The firm is known for:

* Strong community ties and a people-first approach
* Investment in innovation, automation and paperless workflows
* A genuine focus on client care during highly stressful life events
* A culture grounded in integrity, empathy and accountability

The head office is a modern, light-filled beachfront space on the southern Gold Coast, supported by contemporary offices in major metropolitan and regional centres.

About the Position:

Our client is seeking an experienced Legal Accounts Officer to join their tight-knit finance team of four in their Southern Gold Coast head office (full-time, in-office). This role sits at the heart of the firm's operations, partnering closely with the Accounts Manager and CFO and supporting more than 70+ staff across varied practice groups.

You will be a key point of contact for all things finance – from day-to-day trust accounting to ensuring lawyers and support staff have accurate, timely information to progress matters efficiently. You will work across trust and general accounts for a busy file load that includes compensation claims, estate matters, family law, property transactions and commercial disputes.

Core responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

* Completing daily bank reconciliations for trust and general accounts in LEAP and Xero
* Processing daily receipts and payments (trust and office) via LEAP, Xero and Commbiz
* Preparing and issuing client invoices across multiple practice areas
* Providing accurate financial information to clients, staff, management and stakeholders
* Assisting with weekly payroll and superannuation processing in Xero
* Monitoring and following up overdue accounts in a professional, client-focused manner
* Supporting end-of-month procedures and reporting requirements
* Contributing to continual improvement of finance processes and internal controls

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in meticulous trust accounting, and wants to be embedded in a collaborative, growth-focused law firm.

Key Requirements:

* Minimum 5+ years' experience in an Accounts Officer or similar role
* Legal industry and trust accounting experience highly regarded
* Strong working knowledge of LEAP and Xero (or similar legal and accounting systems)
* Exposure to law society trust regulations and external audit processes
* Relevant qualification in Accounting/Bookkeeping or Business Administration
* Sound understanding of GST and core accounting principles
* High level of accuracy, attention to detail and process discipline
* Proven ability to problem-solve and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
* Confident communicator with excellent client and internal stakeholder liaison skills
* Proactive, accountable and able to work both independently and as part of a small team
* Flexibility to occasionally attend other Queensland/NSW offices when required
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to juggle competing priorities

On Offer:

* Opportunity to join our client's finance team in a respected, growing law firm
* Exposure to a diverse mix of legal work – compensation, family law, estates, property and commercial matters
* Structured induction and ongoing training in both technical accounting and legal systems
* Access to senior mentors, including the Accounts Manager and CFO
* Market-competitive salary package, negotiable in line with experience
* Modern, paperless office environment leveraging LEAP, Xero and other leading legal tech
* Supportive, family-oriented culture with a genuine focus on wellbeing and work/life balance
* In-house professional and personal development, including coaching to enhance communication and client service skills
* Well-resourced admin, IT and operations teams so you can focus on high-value finance work
* Primarily office-based role with systems that can support occasional work-from-home when needed
