**The Role**
The APS 6 Logistics Officer must understand and comply with relevant legislative and regulatory frameworks, as well as Defence logistics policies and procedures. They will need to exercise initiative and judgment when performing their duties and will be responsible for setting and reviewing work priorities and managing workflows for themselves and their team.
There is a considerable level of stakeholder engagement associated with this role. The APS 6 Logistics Officer will be expected to provide technical advice to relevant planning, project management and logistics related activities. They will often be required to act as the Commanding Officer's representative when engaging with stakeholders in relation to logistics and estate management activities.
This recruitment process is being used to fill a non-ongoing position for a period of 15 months.
A merit pool of suitable applicants may be established following the conclusion of this recruitment process and used to fill similar ongoing and non-ongoing roles across the Department over the next 18 months.

Health care services are delivered through eight Joint Health regions across Australia. The APS 6 Logistics Officer position is part of Joint Health Unit - Victoria/Tasmania and is based at Victoria Barracks Melbourne, Southbank, Victoria. Each Joint Health Unit facility provides a range of services which can include medical, nursing, dental, physiotherapy, mental health, rehabilitation, and in-patient care.
The JHC workforce is an integrated, multi-disciplinary team of Defence members, civilians, contractors and professional health providers. We work together to manage around one million patient health service interactions with Defence members each year.
The APS 6 Logistics Officer reports to the Commanding Officer of their Joint Health Unit with technical guidance provided via the Directorate of Health Material, Logistics and Pharmacy. The broader Logistics team has representatives nationally, providing a network of support for Logistics Officers.
