Northern Rivers Women's Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service - Assistant Manager

Permanent part-time 63 hours per fortnight - SCHADS Award, Grade 6 + Salary Sacrificing

The Service has an exemption under s 31 of the Anti- Discrimination Act 1977 to employ women in this role.

The Assistant Manager supports the Manager in the overall administration and coordination of the Women's Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service (WDVCAS), whilst maintaining direct engagement with WDVCAS clients.

The Assistant Manager exercises a high level of responsibility and provides high-level expert advice.

The work includes, but is not limited to, the following duties:

* assisting the Manager in service delivery, and the overall administration and coordination of the WDVCAS;
* provide supervision and mentoring for WDVCAS staff;
* assisting the Manager in developing and administering operational policies and administrative tasks, systems and processes for the effective operation of the WDVCAS;
* coordinating and managing the operation of discrete areas of the WDVCAS such as list day at a particular court;
* coordinating projects at the request of the Manager;
* undertaking a variety of tasks relating to the operation of the WDVCAS, under the general direction of the Manager;
* analysis of relevant quantitative and qualitative data (such as demographic information from the WDVCAS service area) and implementing appropriate strategies and changes to improve service delivery, and reporting of data analysis; and
* representing the service at external meetings and forums as requested;
* delivering services in accordance with the WDVCAP Service Agreement, the WDVCAP Policy and Procedure Manual, the SAM Manual and other operational documents.

Accountability

* undertaking work in accordance with the Centre's policies and procedures and WDVCAP Service Agreement;
* completing a Service Report for the NRCLC's Annual Report.

Supervision

* the position is supervised by the Manager NRWDVCAS

Team work

* working cooperatively in a multi-disciplinary team;

* attending NRCLC Management Committee meetings as required;

* attending NRCLC Whole of Centre meetings and training;
* attending NRWDVCAS staff meetings;
* attending relevant community meetings and networks.

Training and development

* undertaking in-house and external training, including Women's Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Program (WDVCAP) forums and other training events;
* attending external supervision as required.

Promotion and advocacy

* promoting the service through the development of community awareness and effective liaison with key stakeholders;
* advocating for law reform, policy reform and primary prevention of gender-based violence;

Administration

* ensuring that staff have access to appropriate referral materials and information;
* ensuring that client data is appropriately collected and reported to WDVCAP as required.

Essential criteria:

Demonstrated leadership experience including staff supervision and maintaining effective working relationships;

Excellent communication skills, particularly in negotiation, advocacy and conflict resolution;

Demonstrated capacity to work across teams to ensure collaboration, consultation and effective work practices;

Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with clients in crisis and provide appropriate, trauma-informed support;

High level report writing and demonstrated experience in organisational and staff planning processes;

Current drivers license and ability to travel as required.
