**Position Description - Team Member Irrigation**

**Purpose**
The Team Member Irrigation will be responsible for performing irrigation and reserve
maintenance and open space works.
The primary objective of this position is maintain Councils open space assets with the key
focus on delivering efficient and effective services to the community.
The role requires strong communication skills and the ability to maintain solid relationships
with internal and external stakeholders.
As an ongoing commitment to the organisation you will be responsible for delivering the
best service to our community and to improve residents' quality of life; continuously, smartly
and efficiently in the scope of your daily work.
**Key Deliverables**
- Maintain and monitor the irrigation systems on reserves, to Council's standards,
including irrigation repairs, installations and programming ensuring the efficiency of
the irrigation systems at all times.
- As required, undertake duties relevant to open space assets at Council reserves
which may include asset inspection and repairs.
- Maintain the reserves to Council's standards, including mowing, weed control, site
clean ups, planting, mulching and locating depth services as required.
- Operate minor plant and equipment to maintain Council's reserves and surrounding
spaces.
- Provide input to the Open Spaces metrics programs and other operational programs.
- Deliver on key performance indicators as set out by the Field Supervisor
Reserve/Asset Maintenance.
- Deliver an exceptional customer experience to external clients and internal
departments.
- Operate Water Tanker Truck as required.
**Person Specification**
Essential criteria
- Advanced communication skills both written and verbal
**Qualifications**
- MR driver's licence (HR licence may be required once in role)
- Appropriate licences to operate plant and equipment used in irrigation maintenance
(1.8T Excavator)
- Certificate III in Horticulture, Turf Management or Irrigation (willingness to obtain or
working towards)

**Skills, Knowledge and Experience**
- Ability to install, maintain and operate pressurised irrigation systems, maintenance
and troubleshooting of irrigation pumps, measure irrigation delivery system
performance, troubleshoot irrigation systems, implement an irrigation schedule,
operate irrigation technology, interpret irrigation plans and drawings, install and
terminate extra low voltage wiring systems and general irrigation maintenance as
required
- Ability to be innovative, flexible and creative in determining practical solutions to
operational problems
- Intermediate computer literacy skills (desktop/tablet/smartphone) and ability to
develop new technical skills and embrace new technology and techniques
- Ability to develop new technical skills and embrace new technology and techniques
- Sound organisational/time management skills
