**Georges River Council has an excellent opportunity for a Library Officer Research and Community History to join our team, based in Hurstville.**
The Research and Community History team is responsible for the delivery of a community history service for internal and external customers and the management of the Local Studies collection and archive.
**About the Role**
The Library Officer Research and Community History contributes to the efficient and effective operations of the Georges River Libraries by ensuring the delivery of high quality, customer focused library services, resources, programs and systems.
In this role you will:
- Assist with the maintenance and delivery of the Local Studies Management Plan and Disaster Preparedness Plan
- Contribute to the preservation and development of the local studies collection including digitisation, cataloguing and active collection of historical and contemporary materials
- Undertake research and develop original content relating to community history for the Local Studies Collection, website, social media, publications and events
- Contribute to the development and delivery of promotions, services, programs, events and exhibitions relating to community history, research and the local studies collection
- Establish, develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders within Council and the community to collect and preserve the history of the Georges River area

- TAFE Diploma qualification in Library and Information Science or equivalent library experience
- Current Working with Children Check
- Demonstrated experience in library and information services
- Demonstrated experience in implementing, promoting, delivering effective and relevant library services, programs and events to a diverse community encouraging literacy, creativity, and lifelong learning
- Demonstrated skills in written and verbal communication including summarising data, preparing reports and providing training
- High level customer focused approach to service delivery
- Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment
- Demonstrated analytical, time management, organisational, and creative problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Suite as well as content management systems and technology in a public library or equivalent setting
**Desirable**
- Experience in conducting research, including community history and local studies research and oral history programs
- Experience in the digitisation and conservation of local studies materials
- Experience in cataloguing and record management
- Knowledge of the Georges River Area
- Current NSW Driver's Licence
