About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Manager of Finance and Administration will:
* Supervise staff and oversee finance functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, investments, taxation, payroll, rates, and customer service.
* Prepare monthly and annual financial statements and associated work papers, including reconciliations.
* Assist in preparing and managing the annual budget with the CEO and Manager of Technical Services.
* Manage the audit process and address audit queries.
* Ensure accurate and compliant financial records according to legislative requirements, accounting standards, policies, and controls.
* Maintain the Strategic Resource Plan and undertake scenario modelling as directed by the CEO.
* Implement and maintain systems for measuring council performance.
The ideal candidate will have exceptional organisational, time management, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, and be a collaborative team player. Additional requirements include:
* A degree in Commerce/Business with a major in Accounting or equivalent experience.
* Extensive knowledge of accounting and administration practices for local government, including Australian Accounting Standards, the Local Government (Financial Management) Regulations 1996, and the Local Government Act 1995.
* Strong record-keeping, administrative, problem-solving, and conflict management skills.
* Knowledge of office administration.
* Experience in a senior role within local government.
* The right to live and work in Australia, along with a Medical and National Police Clearance.
