About the role
The Sydney Local Health District Child Sexual Assault Counselling Service provides tertiary level child centric family focused counselling intervention to children, young people and their families and carers where sexual assault has occurred or is suspected, or where there is problematic and harmful sexualised behaviours in under ten year olds.
The Child Sexual Assault Counsellor is an integral part of the multidisciplinary health care team within the SLHD Community Health Facility. The counsellor will provide specialist ongoing counselling, advocacy and specific case management to children, young people and their families and carers of the Sydney Local Health District in order to meet their health and wellbeing needs.
We are looking for someone who has :
* A Bachelor degree in Social Work or equivalent that provides eligibility for full membership of Australian Association of Social Work (AASW) with experience at Level 2 or higher.
* An understanding of the dynamics and effects of child and young person sexual assault and best practice models for working with children, young people and their families or carers who have experienced sexual abuse / trauma.
* Experience in, or commitment to, working with individuals and families from indigenous backgrounds and / or diverse cultural backgrounds.
* A current NSW Driver's Licence (P2 Licence acceptable).

About working for SLHD
This is a Category A position. To be employed by NSW Health, you must provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy (PD2022_030).
