The Role
Royal Sydney’s Archivist safeguards the Club’s rich history by preserving documents and artefacts, ensuring new acquisitions are accurately recorded, and bringing the story of Royal Sydney to life through publications, displays, exhibitions, and digital content.
We are seeking a qualified, experienced, and enthusiastic part-time Archivist (2 days per week) to join our Communications team. This role blends hands-on archival management with creative storytelling, contributing to how the Club’s legacy is curated, interpreted, and shared.
You’ll work closely with the Communications team day-to-day, and in collaboration with the History & Heritage Sub-Committee on specific heritage projects.
Responsibilities include:
- Gathering and documenting knowledge of Royal Sydney's history, and activities past and present
- Ensure the archival database is accurate, accessible, and up-to-date
- Research and respond to historical or archival enquiries from Members and staff
- Support Communications projects by contributing historical context, stories, and imagery for use in newsletters, publications, displays, and digital channels
- Assist with the curation of small exhibitions and heritage displays across the Club
- Collaborate with the Communications Manager and Sub-Committee on heritage initiatives, priorities, and conservation or digitisation projects
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience in archives, museums, libraries, or heritage collection management
- Strong organisational and research skills with high attention to detail
- Familiarity with archival cataloguing and digitisation systems
- Clear written communication and ability to support storytelling projects
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams
- An interest in sporting heritage and working with volunteer led committees is also desirable.
